Green Logic Installs Largest Wind Turbine in Southold Town

Green Logic has installed the largest wind turbine in Southold Town at Pindar Vineyards. The previous Southold Town construction codes only allowed wind turbines ith power output ratings lower than 25 kilowatts, but Pindar Vineyards was able to change the codes relatively quickly to permit such a large wind turbine to be constructed. The 100 kilowatt turbine will supply at least 90% of the Vineyard's energy.

The commercial wind turbine was strategically placed in an open area close to the vineyard that receives a significant amount of wind.

Senior Green Logic Project Manager Ashlee Reiniger told the Suffolk Times that "It's just wide open. Nothing stops the wind. The development rights are intact, so we can build there, and it's close enough to the winemaking facility to feed the wires in."

Green Logic completed the wind turbine installation on Tuesday, November 28, 2011.
